Since Fan Bingbing (范冰冰) made such a big impression on the red carpet in Cannes 2010, every wannabe Chinese actress has been desperate for the same attention.
Step forward actress Li Xiaolu (李小璐) at the Fall/Winter 2012 show presented by Christian Dior at the Rodin Museum in Paris on March 3.
Wearing a white number that managed to reveal nearly all her breasts without revealing nipples was quite an achievement!
These celebrities rarely star in any of the films on view, or have anything to do with the designer who is putting on the runway show, but they go anyway.
In China, it gives them face and attention, the thinking being, if they are being noticed abroad, they deserve attention here.
So, invited or not, they turn up and do their best to get noticed.
